Work in Unstoppable Code can run a task for you on a schedule. An automation sends the same prompt to an agent at the times you choose, such as a summary every morning, a research digest every Monday, or a reminder before a weekly meeting.
Before you start
- Desktop app only. Automations run in the desktop app, so keep it open.
- Install the desktop app if you haven't yet.
- If a run comes due while the app is closed, it runs once when you open the app again.
- Create a Work project for the task. See Create a Work project.
Create the automation
- Select Workflows in the sidebar, then the Schedule tab.
- Select New workflow, then On a schedule. A new automation opens on its Definition section.
- Give it a Name, such as "Morning summary".
- Under Target, choose Project. Then choose your Work project in the Project list.
- Leave Type on Chat.
- Under Run in, choose where each run goes:
- New chat each run starts a new task in your Work project every time.
- Existing chat keeps adding to one task. Pick it under Work Entry (the app's name for a task here), then pick a Chat in it, or New chat to start a fresh chat in that task each run.
- In Prompt, write what the agent should do each time, the way you would ask in a chat.
- Open the Trigger section. Choose Scheduled for a task that repeats, or One-time to run it once on a Date and Time you pick.
- For a repeating task, set when it runs. The Cron expression field is set to every day at 9:00 to start. To change it, select the Generate cron expression button at the end of the field, describe the schedule in plain words, such as "every weekday at 8am", and select Generate. Check the Next trigger time under the field.
- Select Create automation.
To try it without waiting, select Run now at the top of the automation. Each run shows up in your Work project, where you can read the result and reply to the agent. Runs are also listed on the Runs tab in Workflows, and the Schedule tab shows upcoming runs on a calendar.
Prompt ideas
- Daily summary: "Read the notes in this project and summarize what changed yesterday. List any open questions."
- Weekly research: "Find this week's news about electric bikes and write a one-page digest with links to the sources."
- Reminder: "Remind me to send the team status update. Draft it from this week's notes so I can edit it."
A summary or reminder that uses your email or calendar needs those tools connected first. See Connect your tools to Work.
Send one message later
To send a single message to a chat at a set time, without an automation, select + in the chat's message box and choose Schedule message.
